Summer holidays in Nottingham

<< GO BACK

With summer coming to a close and the weather slowly turning duller, why not make the most of these last few weeks in Nottingham? Whether you’re spending time with your kids before they head back to school, or just looking for a few good days out, there’s something for everyone – and no, it’s not all Robin Hood based!

Nottingham Castle

If you’re a history buff, or just a fan of gorgeous grounds, Nottingham Castle is bound to have something to entertain. With numerous tours and trails, there’s plenty to see and do  – including a Robin Hood family backpack aimed at 5-10 year olds with activities to keep them from complaining! Don’t feel left out if you’re visiting without kids. There’s plenty of tours to go on, including the cave tour, as well as museums and galleries to visit.

The Nottingham Beach
Despite being nowhere near the sea, Nottingham’s Beach has become something of a staple feature during summer, with this year being its 6th open in Old Market Square. With family rides and games, along with a giant paddling pool, this is a great place to take your kids for some summer fun – and it comes with a beach bar too, to keep the adults happy. There are live acts performing throughout, so remember to keep an ear open for them!

Evening Entertainment
Nottingham Castle once again takes centre stage during the evenings with a number of outdoor performances throughout August, ending, of course, with its traditional showing of Robin Hood on the 30th. With prices at only £14 for adults and £10 for concessions (with a family rate of £40 for two adults and two children), we’re sure you won’t want to miss out on this, but if this is too tame for you then there’s always the Nottingham ghost walks. Starting at the Salutation Inn on Saturdays, these tours take you throughout the city, letting you in on all its ghostly secrets, until it ends in the haunted caves below the inn itself!
